Synopsis
Australia (2008) is Baz Luhrmann's sweeping historical romance, and you can watch it online on iFILM. On the eve of World War II, English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley arrives in the country's far north to claim an enormous cattle station called Faraway Downs.
To keep the land out of the hands of a rival cattle baron scheming to seize it, Sarah strikes an uneasy deal with a rough-edged drover known only as the Drover. Together with a small crew they push more than 1,500 head of cattle across thousands of miles of brutal outback to the port of Darwin. Heat, dust, betrayal and a romance neither of them planned for ride along the way. Then the Japanese bombers reach the coast. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman lead as two strangers bound together by a hard country.
Luhrmann filmed his homeland as a vast canvas of red desert and storm-heavy skies, threading an Aboriginal child's story through the whole picture. Running nearly two hours and forty minutes, it reaches for the scale of old epics like Gone with the Wind. Stream Australia (2008) online on iFILM.
