Sisters

Sisters (1973) is a psychological horror-thriller you can watch online on iFILM, an early Brian De Palma feature with Margot Kidder in the lead. Reporter Grace Collier watches through her window as her neighbor — a young French-Canadian model named Danielle — appears to stab a man. Grace calls the police. They find nothing. No body, no crime.

Grace keeps digging. She learns Danielle was once a conjoined twin, separated by surgery under circumstances that were never quite right. Jennifer Salt plays Grace with a reporter's dogged paranoia; Charles Durning is the detective who dismisses every word she says. De Palma splits the screen at a key moment — a technique borrowed from Hitchcock but made entirely his own — and Bernard Herrmann's score (his last for any director) coils around every scene. The film is about watching, being watched, and the violence that hides in plain sight.
