Synopsis
Phantom of the Paradise (1974) is a rock opera built from horror, fantasy and pitch-black comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Brian De Palma fused The Phantom of the Opera with the Faust legend and wrapped it in glam rock. Songwriter Winslow Leach pours his life into a cantata, and producer Swan simply steals it.
Framed and jailed, Winslow escapes with his face wrecked, hides behind a mask and a silver helmet, and starts haunting the Paradise, Swan's gleaming new rock palace. He wants revenge, and he wants to save Phoenix, the singer he loves, before Swan turns her voice into another commodity. William Finley plays the Phantom, Jessica Harper is Phoenix, and Paul Williams, who plays Swan, wrote the entire score.
