Synopsis
Snake Eyes (1998) is Brian De Palma's crime thriller starring Nicolas Cage, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The setting: an Atlantic City arena, a championship boxing match, 14,000 fans, and gunfire from the crowd.
Crooked detective Rick Santoro shows up to cheer on a fighter and cover his gambling debts, then watches the Secretary of Defense get shot a few seats away. The arena locks down with thousands of suspects inside. Santoro takes the case and soon senses that his old friend, the Navy officer running security, is holding something back. A woman in white who slipped into the crowd knows the truth, and every casino camera replay rearranges what really happened.
De Palma opens with a near-13-minute single take, then replays the shooting from competing points of view, Rashomon-style. Stephen H. Burum shot it, Ryuichi Sakamoto scored it, and Gary Sinise and Carla Gugino round out the cast. Stream Snake Eyes (1998) online on iFILM.
