Synopsis
Body Double (1984) is a crime thriller from Brian De Palma that you can watch online on iFILM. Out-of-work actor Jake Scully has just lost a role to his crippling claustrophobia, caught his girlfriend cheating, and found himself with nowhere to live.
A break comes from an acquaintance named Sam, who hands Jake a luxurious house in the Hollywood Hills to look after while he's away — and points out a nightly distraction through the telescope: a beautiful neighbor who dances in her lit window with the curtains wide open. Jake can't look away. Then one evening, instead of the usual show, he watches through the lens as the woman is murdered. From there he tumbles into a world where reality and performance trade places, and the trail drags him into the adult-film business and a brash porn star named Holly.
De Palma leans hard into Hitchcock, folding Vertigo and Rear Window into a single voyeuristic puzzle box. Craig Wasson, Melanie Griffith as Holly and Gregg Henry head the cast.
