Bird (2024) — watch online on iFILM. A drama written and directed by Andrea Arnold, starring Nykiya Adams as Bailey, a twelve-year-old navigating life in a North Kent squat with her distracted single father Bug, played by Barry Keoghan, and her older brother. Bug is absorbed in his new relationship and barely present. Bailey is mostly on her own — scooting around on her board, hanging with local kids, watching the world from the margins.

Then she meets a man called Bird. Franz Rogowski plays him as someone equally adrift, searching for traces of his own past and drawn to Bailey with a strange, unforced tenderness. Their unlikely connection becomes the film's quiet centre. Arnold works close to her subjects — handheld camera, real locations, the friction of actual bodies in tight spaces. There's no distance between the lens and the life it captures. That directness has been her signature across Wasp, Fish Tank and American Honey.
