Synopsis
Away We Go (2009) is a Sam Mendes comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Burt and Verona are expecting their first baby and suddenly realize they have no real home to bring it to. So they hit the road to find one.
The couple had settled in Colorado to be near Burt's parents. Then the parents abruptly announce they're moving to Belgium, stranding the two thirty-somethings in a town they can't stand. Burt and Verona pack up and crisscross North America, from Phoenix to Montreal to Miami, crashing with relatives and old friends along the way. Every stop is another family with its own messy theory of love, kids and growing up. John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph play the pair plainly and without vanity, surrounded by Allison Janney, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jeff Daniels.
Mendes made this small, deliberately gentle film right after Revolutionary Road, scored to the soft guitar of Alexi Murdoch. The screenplay came from married writers Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida. Stream Away We Go (2009) online on iFILM.
