Synopsis
The Devil All the Time (2020) is Antonio Campos's crime drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The story stretches from the end of World War II into the mid-1960s, across the poor backwoods straddling Ohio and West Virginia.
At its core is Arvin Russell (Tom Holland), a young man shaped by people who settle things with violence and crooked faith. His father prays so fiercely that prayer curdles into sacrifice. Circling around him are others: a predatory preacher (Robert Pattinson), a corrupt sheriff (Sebastian Stan), and a married pair of serial killers played by Riley Keough and Jason Clarke. Their separate threads run for years, then collide in one bloody knot.
Adapted from Donald Ray Pollock's novel, the film uses the author himself as narrator, his voice tying the scattered lives together. The cast also includes Bill Skarsgard, Haley Bennett and Mia Wasikowska. It's slow, grim work, soaked in Southern Gothic dread and religious despair.
