Synopsis
The Last King of Scotland (2006) is Kevin Macdonald's drama you can watch online on iFILM. A young Scottish doctor goes looking for adventure in Uganda and lands inside the inner circle of a new president.
Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy) arrives just as General Idi Amin seizes power. The ruler takes a liking to the cocky outsider and hands him the job of personal physician. At first the charm and swagger are intoxicating. Then the cracks show: people vanish, whispers spread, fear settles in. Walking away from a dictator's favour turns out to be far harder than earning it.
The film builds a fictional doctor around a real Ugandan strongman of the 1970s, adapted from Giles Foden's novel. Forest Whitaker's performance as Amin won the Academy Award for Best Actor; Gillian Anderson and Kerry Washington round out the cast. Stream The Last King of Scotland (2006) online on iFILM.
