Synopsis
The One and Only Ivan (2020) is a Disney family drama you can watch online on iFILM. Ivan is a silverback gorilla who lives in a shopping-mall circus and barely remembers the jungle he was taken from as a baby.
His world is a glass enclosure, his friends a stray dog, an aging elephant and a girl who sweeps the floors. Ivan paints, performs and treats this life as normal. Then a baby elephant named Ruby arrives. She misses the wild and asks questions Ivan can't answer. For the first time he starts to wonder where he truly belongs, and he and the other animals begin plotting a way out.
Sam Rockwell voices Ivan, Angelina Jolie plays the elephant Stella, and Helen Mirren and Danny DeVito round out the cast, with Bryan Cranston onscreen as the circus owner. Director Thea Sharrock adapted Katherine Applegate's bestselling children's novel, itself inspired by a real gorilla who spent years inside a mall.
