About

Synopsis

Mimic (1997) is a sci-fi horror film by Guillermo del Toro you can watch online on iFILM. Deep under Manhattan, a lab-bred insect refused to die out, grew to human size, and learned to wear our shape.

Entomologist Susan Tyler (Mira Sorvino) once ended a roach-borne plague that was killing the city's children. Her fix was an engineered killer species, designed to die off after a single generation. Three years on, it didn't. The bugs are now as tall as a person and can fold their bodies into a rough human silhouette to get close to prey. With her health-department husband (Jeremy Northam) and an old subway shoeshine man (F. Murray Abraham), Susan heads down into tunnels few will walk out of.

This is early studio-era del Toro, and the signatures are already here: dripping tunnels, insect anatomy, kids in the dark. Watch for Josh Brolin and Norman Reedus in small roles. Gothic claustrophobia over cheap jump scares. Stream Mimic (1997) online on iFILM.
