Synopsis
Mr. Morgan's Last Love (2013) is a quiet drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Sandra Nettelbeck and led by Michael Caine as Matthew Morgan — an American philosophy professor who has spent years retreating from the world in a Paris apartment, hollowed out by his wife's death.
Everything shifts when a young woman named Pauline, played by Clémence Poésy, catches him stumbling on a bus and simply offers her hand. She's spontaneous where he's withdrawn, cheerful where he's gone still. Their unlikely friendship gives Morgan something to look forward to again. But his adult children — Gillian Anderson and Justin Kirk — fly in from New York and immediately question what this young woman wants from their father.
Filmed across Paris as a French-Belgian-German co-production, the story is less about romance than about what it means to feel alive after long numbness. Nettelbeck keeps the sentimentality at arm's length and lets Caine do what he does best. Stream Mr. Morgan's Last Love (2013) online on iFILM.
