Synopsis
All That Jazz (1979) is Bob Fosse's musical drama you can watch online on iFILM. It plays like the director's own self-portrait: Roy Scheider stars as Joe Gideon, a brilliant Broadway choreographer and filmmaker burning through his life on cigarettes, pills and applause.
Every morning runs the same way: a shower, eye drops, amphetamines, and a muttered "It's showtime, folks." Gideon is staging a new musical and cutting a movie at once, sleeping around, lying to his ex-wife Audrey (Leland Palmer) and their daughter Michelle, and cheating on his girlfriend Kate (Ann Reinking). He cannot stop, and his heart gives out. From a hospital bed, the film slides into hallucination, turning his own death into one last elaborate production number, with Jessica Lange as the angel waiting for him.
Fosse turned the camera on himself with brutal candor and his trademark editing, cut as sharply as a dance beat. The film won four Academy Awards and shared the Palme d'Or at Cannes, and its closing number is now a classic. Stream All That Jazz (1979) online on iFILM.
