About

Synopsis

Kinsey (2004) is a biographical drama directed by Bill Condon — watch it online on iFILM. Liam Neeson plays Alfred Kinsey, the scientist who spent years collecting data on what Americans actually did behind closed doors, not what they claimed to do.

Kinsey trained as an entomologist, cataloguing insects with obsessive precision. He brought the same method to human sexuality, assembling a team that included Clyde Martin (Peter Sarsgaard) and conducting face-to-face interviews across the country. The results, published in two landmark reports, sent shockwaves through postwar society: the numbers didn't match the public morality. The Catholic Church denounced him, Congress froze his funding, and newspapers framed his findings as an attack on American values. His wife Clara, played by Laura Linney, stood by him through the entire firestorm. John Lithgow plays his cold, minister father — a man whose rigidity helps explain the scientist his son became.

The film earned Laura Linney a Golden Globe nomination in 2005. Condon frames the story not as a scandal but as a portrait of a man who couldn't separate professional inquiry from personal cost. Stream Kinsey (2004) online on iFILM.
