With help from Roger, the bright young son of his housekeeper Mrs. Munro (Laura Linney), the old man pieces the story back together fragment by fragment — the story of a woman he failed to save.

Adapted from Mitch Cullin's novel "A Slight Trick of the Mind," the film trades hansom-cab deduction for something quieter: an aging man trying to understand his own mistake before time runs out.
