Doctor Zhivago (1965) is David Lean's sweeping historical romance, and you can watch it online on iFILM. A poet-physician loves a woman the century keeps tearing away from him.

Yuri Zhivago is married to Tonya, yet war and revolution keep pushing him back toward Lara, a nurse with a hard past and complicated men of her own. Their affair stretches across years, breaking and resuming as the old Russia falls apart around them: the trenches of the First World War, the February and October upheavals, the civil war that follows. Omar Sharif plays Yuri as gentle and stubborn at once, Julie Christie is Lara, and Rod Steiger and Alec Guinness carry the saga's other threads across nearly three hours.

The film comes from Boris Pasternak's novel, banned in the Soviet Union at the time, and took five Academy Awards, including ones for the screenplay, the cinematography and Maurice Jarre's score with its famous Lara's Theme.
