Synopsis

The Way We Were (1973) is a romantic drama directed by Sydney Pollack — watch it online on iFILM. Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford play two people who should never have fallen in love, but did anyway.

Katie Morosky is a sharp-tongued Jewish activist who fights for every cause she believes in. Hubbell Gardiner is a golden-boy WASP who glides through life on charm alone. They meet at college, argue constantly, and somehow can't stay apart. Years later, after World War II, they find each other again — and this time they try to build a life together in Hollywood. Then the McCarthy era arrives, bringing blacklists, informants, and the demand to pick a side. Katie can't stop speaking her mind. Hubbell can't start.

The film's title song, performed by Streisand, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1974. Pollack built a love story around an era where private lives and public pressure couldn't coexist. Stream The Way We Were (1973) online on iFILM.
