Synopsis

Broken Flowers (2005) is Jim Jarmusch's deadpan road-trip comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM, with Bill Murray as Don Johnston — aging bachelor, serial ex-boyfriend and the last person expecting news in a pink envelope.

The letter, unsigned, claims Don fathered a son twenty years ago. The boy is now nineteen and may be on his way to find his father. Don's neighbour Winston, an amateur detective played by Jeffrey Wright, pins together an itinerary of four former flames. Don boards a succession of flights and shows up at the doors of Sharon Stone, Jessica Lange, Tilda Swinton and Frances Conroy — each encounter stranger and more quietly devastating than the last. He barely speaks. The silences do the work.

Jarmusch won the Grand Prix at Cannes 2005 for the film. Murray plays inertia as a form of tragedy, and the ending refuses to hand you anything tidy. Stream Broken Flowers (2005) online on iFILM.
