Synopsis
Paranoid Park (2007) is a crime drama from Gus Van Sant you can watch online on iFILM. A quiet Portland skateboarder ends up carrying a secret that slowly eats at him from the inside.
Alex skates, and he keeps most of himself hidden under a hoodie. His parents are splitting up, a girlfriend wants something he can't give, and his mind is somewhere else entirely. One night, near a rail yard beside the skate park, a security guard dies a brutal death. Detectives start showing up at his school. Alex knows more than he admits, and the film cares less about who did it than about how a teenager keeps living with a weight he can't tell anyone about.
Van Sant cast mostly non-actors he found through MySpace ads, giving the movie its raw, unguarded feel. Cinematographer Christopher Doyle and grainy 16mm footage turn ordinary skate days into something dreamlike and uneasy. The film earned a special prize at the 60th Cannes Film Festival.
