Stand and Deliver

Stand and Deliver (1988) is an American drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Ramon Menendez. It follows Jaime Escalante, a math teacher who takes a job at Garfield High School in East Los Angeles — a place where no one expected much from students or staff.

Escalante doesn't see lost causes. He sees kids. Gang members and chronic underperformers pick up algebra and calculus textbooks, pushed by a man who refuses to accept the ceiling others have set for them. The class grinds toward the AP Calculus exam — and passes. Edward James Olmos earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal; Lou Diamond Phillips and Andy Garcia round out the cast.
