Larry and Carol have settled into a comfortable, predictable routine. Then the woman across the hall dies of a sudden heart attack. Sad, but ordinary, except Carol notices that the grieving widower seems oddly upbeat the very next day. She starts poking around. Larry thinks she's lost her mind, until he gets pulled into the snooping himself. Alan Alda eggs Carol on with a little too much enthusiasm, Anjelica Huston plays a writer who makes Larry jealous, and a very young Zach Braff turns up in a small part.
