Eragon

Eragon (2006) is a family fantasy adventure from director Stefen Fangmeier you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on the bestselling novel Christopher Paolini wrote as a teenager. A farm boy in the land of Alagaesia stumbles on an odd blue stone in the woods, and the stone turns out to be an egg.

When a dragon named Saphira hatches, young Eragon (Ed Speleers) learns something he never wanted to hear: he is heir to the Riders, a wiped-out order that once held the realm together. Now he is hunted. The tyrant Galbatorix wants the last Rider dead, and the boy falls in with the old dragon-keeper Brom (Jeremy Irons), a captured warrior named Arya (Sienna Guillory) and the menacing sorcerer Durza (Robert Carlyle). He has to learn to fly, fight and trust his dragon on the run, because the war won't wait.

The cast carries some real weight: Rachel Weisz voices Saphira, and John Malkovich plays the tyrant king. This is old-school sword-and-prophecy fantasy aimed at the whole family, big on dragon flights over the mountains and light on grimness.
