Archive (2020) is a science-fiction thriller you can watch online on iFILM, the directing debut of Gavin Rothery. Deep in a Japanese forest, engineer George Almore is building a robot with a real mind.

Theo James plays a man with a single obsession. His wife is dead, but a fragment of her still lives inside a black cabinet called the Archive, and the storage clock is running out. George wants to move her consciousness into a body before her voice fades for good. He shares the lab with two earlier prototypes — clumsy, jealous, oddly childlike — and a third one that is nearly human. Stacy Martin gives that machine a face that starts remembering things it was never meant to know.

Rothery, a concept artist who helped shape the look of Duncan Jones's Moon, fills the film with cold steel rooms and very few words. The ending rewires everything you thought you saw. Toby Jones and Rhona Mitra round out the cast. Stream Archive (2020) online on iFILM.
