Synopsis
The Land Before Time (1988) is Don Bluth's hand-drawn animated film you can watch online on iFILM. A young brontosaurus called Littlefoot is left alone in a dying world of drought and erupting volcanoes, and sets out to find the Great Valley — a place still green enough to feed every herd.
The road is long and dangerous. Along the way the little orphan falls in with four other youngsters, each a different species: stubborn three-horned Cera, chatty Ducky, jittery little flyer Petrie and silent Spike. They have to learn to stick together, share their fear and hunger, and dodge Sharptooth, the tyrannosaur stalking them across the wastes. It is a story about loss, friendship and growing up, told plainly enough for a five-year-old to follow.
Heavyweight names stand behind it: Steven Spielberg and George Lucas produced, James Horner wrote the score. At a lean 69 minutes, with gentle animation and a couple of genuinely heartbreaking scenes, it became a family classic and spawned a long line of sequels.
