Their captors serve the Pure Ones, an owl army bent on ruling the forest. Soren breaks free and flies off to find the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, the heroes he once thought were only a story. A ragtag flock joins him along the way: a gruff tracker, a tiny echolocating navigator, a soft-hearted glutton. His brother, meanwhile, picks the other side, and that rift cuts deeper than any talon. The voice cast includes Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving, Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush and Abbie Cornish.

Adapted from Kathryn Lasky's book series by Australia's Animal Logic, the studio behind The Lego Movie, the film renders every barb of every feather and stages its aerial duels in Snyder's trademark slow motion.
