Young Sherlock Holmes

Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) is an adventure mystery with a streak of thriller that you can watch online on iFILM. It imagines how a teenage Holmes and Watson might have first met at an English boarding school, long before the Baker Street years.

London is gripped by a run of bizarre deaths: respectable gentlemen die one after another, gripped by terrifying hallucinations that seem to drive them mad. Young Sherlock, already armed with his trademark deduction, teams up with new friend John Watson on their very first case, tracing the killings back to a hidden Egyptian cult. There is a first love along the way, and plenty of mortal danger. Nicholas Rowe plays Holmes, Alan Cox is Watson, with Sophie Ward and Anthony Higgins alongside them.

Directed by Barry Levinson, produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Chris Columbus, the film also earned a footnote in movie history: its stained-glass knight was the first fully computer-generated character, built by the team that would become Pixar.
