Scott made this between Legend and Black Rain, and it sits apart from his larger spectacles: intimate, visually precise, built on atmosphere rather than action. Cinematographer Steven Poster uses the contrast between cold Manhattan nights and the warmth of Keegan's domestic life as the film's central tension. Jerry Orbach rounds out the cast.
