Synopsis
Beastie Boys Story (2020) is a live documentary you can watch online on iFILM. Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz take the stage at Brooklyn Steel in New York to walk through forty years of friendship, music, and spectacularly bad decisions — in their own words. Director and longtime collaborator Spike Jonze shaped the evening into a two-hour film.
Three kids from New York started in hardcore punk, invented their own genre somewhere between rap and self-deprecating rock, then became one of the most influential acts of the 1980s and 90s. Adam Yauch — MCA — died in 2012. His name comes up constantly on that stage, and both men talk about him the way you talk about someone who just stepped out. It is the film's quiet centre.
