Equals

Equals (2015) is a dystopian sci-fi romance you can watch online on iFILM. Director Drake Doremus cast Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart in a story set inside the Collective — a society that eliminated emotion generations ago and calls the condition peace.

Hoult plays Silas, a model citizen until he is diagnosed with SOS: Switched On Syndrome, the creeping return of feeling. He notices Nia (Stewart) across the workspace and senses she carries the same secret. What follows is not an action film. It is two people trying to be invisible while their bodies give them away.

Guy Pearce and Jacki Weaver play figures of the system, both with reasons of their own for watching the infected. Doremus shot with the same close, almost documentary attention to faces that defined his earlier film Breathe In — long silences, small gestures, a score by Dustin O'Halloran and Hauschka that does the work words cannot.
