Synopsis

John Hollar has been trying to make it as an artist in New York — without much luck. When his mother is diagnosed with a brain tumor and surgery is scheduled, he drives back to the small Midwestern town he once fled, girlfriend Rebecca eight months pregnant in the passenger seat. His dad is barely keeping the family business alive. His brother hasn't moved past high school grudges. And his mother, played by Margot Martindale with a sharp, stubborn warmth, treats her hospital room like a social occasion.
