Amy, raised among these people, senses the menace long before he does. One of the workmen, Charlie, is an old flame of hers. The needling hardens into harassment, the harassment creeps toward the house, and a man who has spent his life avoiding a fight has to decide how much he will take.

Dustin Hoffman plays David as a coiled spring; Susan George is Amy. Peckinpah delivered one of the most divisive films of its era, banned for years in several countries over its brutality.
