Training Day (Season 1)

Training Day (2017) is a CBS crime drama series you can watch online on iFILM, set fifteen years after the events of the 2001 film. Young officer Kyle Craig is sent undercover into an elite LAPD unit with one job: surveil Detective Frank Rourke, document his off-book methods, and report back. What Craig does not expect is how quickly the lines start to blur once Rourke starts teaching.

Bill Paxton plays Rourke — a streetwise detective who runs the city by rules the academy never taught and shows zero interest in defending himself. Justin Cornwell is Craig, principled and increasingly out of his depth. The dynamic between them is not quite mentorship and not quite a standoff. It shifts episode by episode.

Training Day was among the final work Paxton completed before his death in early 2017, and his performance gives the series a weight it might not otherwise carry. The show works best as a portrait of two men testing where loyalty actually stops. Stream Training Day online on iFILM.
