Suspiria

Suspiria (2018) is Luca Guadagnino's horror film, and you can watch online on iFILM. The setting is Berlin in 1977, a city split in two and on edge. A young American named Susie arrives to join the famous Markos dance academy.

Susie (Dakota Johnson) is fast-tracked into the spotlight by the company's enigmatic lead choreographer, Madame Blanc, one of several roles played by Tilda Swinton. But dancers keep vanishing from the school, and bodies seem to move as if pulled by invisible strings. An elderly psychotherapist, haunted by a patient who fled the academy, starts digging on his own. The closer Susie gets to the final performance, the clearer it becomes that an ancient coven runs the troupe and the dance is no art at all but a ritual.

Guadagnino took Dario Argento's cult 1977 picture as a starting point and built something far stranger than a remake: the original's lurid neon gives way to the cold grey of postwar Germany, and the tale of an innocent victim becomes a study of power, guilt and reckoning.
