Johnny English

Johnny English (2003) is a British spy comedy starring Rowan Atkinson, and you can watch it online on iFILM. It sends up the whole secret-agent genre through Britain's least qualified operative.

English is a desk-bound paper pusher at MI7 until the agency's entire roster is wiped out — first Agent One, then everyone else in a single blast at the funeral. That leaves exactly one man standing, and it's him. When the Crown Jewels vanish from the Tower on his watch, the freshly promoted agent has to recover them. Behind the theft sits a smooth French billionaire, Pascal Sauvage, played with relish by John Malkovich. English charges in with total confidence and almost no competence, trashing safe houses and embarrassing allies along the way. Natalie Imbruglia is the mysterious agent Lorna, while Ben Miller plays long-suffering sidekick Bough, who tends to do the actual saving.

Director Peter Howitt builds the whole thing around Atkinson's physical comedy: dead-serious face, disastrous outcome. The tagline says it all — he knows no fear, no danger, and nothing else either. The film launched a franchise that ran to two sequels. Stream Johnny English (2003) online on iFILM.
