Synopsis
The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec (2010) — watch online on iFILM, a fantasy adventure from director Luc Besson. Louise Bourgoin stars as Adèle, a fearless Parisian journalist who will cross continents and crack open tombs to get what she wants.
It is 1912. Adèle travels to Egypt to retrieve the mummified physician of a pharaoh — her plan is to resurrect the ancient doctor so he can cure her sister, who has been in a coma since a freak croquet accident. Back in Paris, things have already gone wrong: a 136-million-year-old pterodactyl egg at the Museum of Natural History has hatched, and the creature is circling the city's rooftops. A telepathic scientist played by Mathieu Amalric may be the only one who can stop it — if the police don't arrest him first.
Besson keeps the tone light and the plot delightfully absurd, drawing from Jacques Tardi's beloved French comic book series. Ornate costumes, Seine-side chases, and a prehistoric predator above the Eiffel Tower add up to good-humored escapism with a retro edge. Watch The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec (2010) online on iFILM.
