Synopsis
Angel-A (2005) is Luc Besson's black-and-white fantasy romance, free to watch online on iFILM. Small-time hustler André owes money to half the gangsters in Paris, and the clock has run out.
The cops won't help. The embassy shows him the door. So André (Jamel Debbouze) climbs onto a bridge over the Seine to end it all. Then a stunning, impossibly tall blonde in a tiny black dress leaps into the river right beside him. He jumps in to save her, and pulls out someone who calmly promises to fix every problem he has. Rie Rasmussen plays Angela with a strangeness that keeps you guessing whether she is a woman at all.
Besson made a small fable about self-worth: before anyone can love you, you have to face your own reflection. Cinematographer Thierry Arbogast shoots Paris as pure light and shadow. Stream Angel-A (2005) online on iFILM.
