Subway

Subway (1985) — watch online on iFILM, Luc Besson's early French action thriller set entirely beneath the streets of Paris. Fred cracks a safe, steals some documents, and suddenly has very angry men chasing him. His escape route: down into the Metro. He doesn't come back up.

Living in the tunnels are petty criminals, buskers, and full-time eccentrics who've built their own underground order. Christopher Lambert plays Fred opposite Isabelle Adjani as Héléna — the woman whose papers he lifted and who keeps coming back anyway. Jean Reno and Jean-Pierre Bacri appear in supporting roles; the score is by Éric Serra, who would go on to work with Besson on every major project.
