About

Synopsis

Ed Wood (1994) is Tim Burton's biographical tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM, with Johnny Depp as the filmmaker history branded the worst director who ever lived.

Wood churns out cheap pictures with wobbly cardboard sets, first takes nobody reshoots, and a bottomless faith in every frame. He has no money and, by any critic's measure, no talent — just relentless drive. Around him gathers an odd crew: aging horror star Bela Lugosi, played by Martin Landau; Wood's girlfriend (Sarah Jessica Parker); a patient TV-preacher backer, a fortune teller, a wrestler. And Wood himself hides a fondness for angora sweaters and women's clothes.

Shot in stark black and white, the film plays as a love letter to making movies with no budget and no shame. Landau won the Academy Award for his Lugosi, and his scenes give the story its quiet ache. Burton turned a record of flops into a warm portrait of a dreamer who simply would not quit. Stream Ed Wood (1994) online on iFILM.
