Synopsis
Holding the Man (2015) is an Australian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Neil Armfield adapts the true story of Timothy Conigrave and John Caleo, whose relationship began in a Melbourne high school in the 1970s and lasted fifteen years.
Tim was chasing an acting career; John captained the football team. They stayed together through separations, family disapproval and the social pressures of two decades — until the AIDS crisis of the 1980s became an obstacle no amount of love could simply move aside. Ryan Corr and Craig Stott lead the cast, with Guy Pearce, Sarah Snook and Geoffrey Rush in key supporting roles.
The film is based on Conigrave's memoir, a landmark of Australian LGBTQ+ literature. Armfield keeps the storytelling close and unsparing — no easy comfort, just two people trying to hold on. Watch Holding the Man online on iFILM.
