Synopsis

Sam Childers (Gerard Butler) walks out of prison angry and dangerous. His wife Lynn (Michelle Monaghan) talks him into church, and something flips in him: he drops the old life, starts a construction business, and raises a chapel with his own hands. A mission trip to Sudan changes everything. Watching militiamen drag local children off to fight as soldiers, Sam decides to put up a shelter for them and guard it with a gun, whatever it costs his family and himself.
The film draws on the life of the real Sam Childers, whose obsession with saving other people's kids nearly wrecked his own household. Marc Forster, who later made Quantum of Solace, directs.
