Synopsis

Fierce People (2006) is an American-Canadian drama directed by Griffin Dunne — watch it online on iFILM. The cast brings together Diane Lane, Anton Yelchin, Donald Sutherland, Chris Evans, and Kristen Stewart in an adaptation of Dirk Wittenborn's novel.

Finn is a teenager whose father is an anthropologist living among the Yanomami of the Amazon, a group known in his father's field notes as "fierce people." Finn's plan is to go join him, but his mother Liz (Diane Lane) is caught with drugs and the summer takes a different turn: a wealthy ex-client, billionaire Ogden Osborne (Donald Sutherland), invites them both to his New Jersey estate. Among the manicured lawns and cocktail parties, Finn falls for Osborne's granddaughter (Kristen Stewart) and starts to notice the ways privilege and cruelty run together just as naturally as they do in the jungle.

Dunne leans into the anthropological conceit — the Yanomami comparison is the film's spine, not a throwaway metaphor. Yelchin, seventeen during production, carries the weight of the story with a quiet intensity that makes you remember why his early death was such a loss. Stream Fierce People (2006) online on iFILM.
