Synopsis
The Getaway (1972) is Sam Peckinpah's crime thriller with Steve McQueen, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Bank robber Doc McCoy walks out of a Texas prison early, but the parole has a price: a heist set up by a crooked businessman who already plans to bury Doc once the job is done.
His wife Carol (Ali MacGraw) bought his freedom and now she is in it to the end. The robbery goes sideways, a partner turns on them, and the couple bolts for the Mexican border with a bag of cash. Behind them come the police, hired guns, and a wounded double-crosser who wants blood. Peckinpah shoots the chase rough and fast — slow-motion gunfire, a filthy motel, a garbage truck for cover.
Walter Hill wrote the script from a Jim Thompson novel, and the heat between McQueen and MacGraw spilled off screen; the two married soon after. It became one of Peckinpah's biggest hits and a template for the fugitive road movie. Stream The Getaway (1972) online on iFILM.
