Nicky Spurgeon runs a slick crew of pickpockets who fleece whole crowds at stadiums and on city streets. Jess (Margot Robbie) attaches herself to him — gorgeous, bold and hopeless at stealing. Nicky agrees to train her, the work goes well, but mixing feelings with the job is dangerous, so he walks away. Three years later their paths cross again in Buenos Aires, where Nicky is setting up a big sting around motor racing and Jess turns up on the arm of a millionaire. Who is playing whom stays a mystery until the final beat.

Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa build the film like a magician's act: you watch where you're told to and miss the real move.
