Synopsis
American Hustle (2013) is David O. Russell's crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. A con man, his lover, and an FBI agent who lets the spotlight go to his head faster than either of them.
The late 1970s. Small-time grifter Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale, hidden under a combover and a gut) runs scams with his partner Sydney (Amy Adams) until a twitchy federal agent named Richie (Bradley Cooper) catches them cold. Instead of jail, he forces the pair to bait crooked politicians and the mob. One target is the Camden mayor (Jeremy Renner), who genuinely wants to fix his broke city. And Irving's loose-cannon wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) can blow the whole thing apart with a single careless sentence.
Russell built the story on a real FBI sting from the period, codenamed Abscam, then told the audience up front that some of it never happened at all.
