Cells at Work!

Cells at Work! (はたらく細胞, 2024) is a Japanese live-action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Hideaki Takeuchi adapts the beloved manga: the human body runs like a city-state, with red blood cells delivering oxygen, white blood cells fighting off pathogens, and platelets sealing up damage. Highschooler Niko is healthy and takes care of herself, so her inner world runs smoothly enough. Her father's does not.

Mei Nagano and Takeru Sato play the lead cellular characters at human scale — everyday biochemistry reframed as action-comedy with actual faces. Dad smokes, drinks, and eats badly, which means his cells are in permanent emergency mode.
