Synopsis
"Agatha and the Midnight Murders" (2020) is a British mystery film you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Joe Stephenson from a screenplay by Tom Weston, it is set during the London Blitz: Agatha Christie, played by Helen Baxendale, is negotiating the sale of a manuscript in which she finally kills off Hercule Poirot — when a real corpse turns up and the deal becomes considerably more complicated.
Blake Harrison plays the detective who arrives for entirely different reasons and ends up working an actual murder through the night while bombs fall outside. The film keeps its world tight — one location, 91 minutes, a small cast including Jacqueline Boatswain and Alastair Petrie — and uses that compression well.
What gives it an extra edge is the conceit itself: Christie selling the death of her most famous creation, surrounded by real death, is a sharp enough premise that the film doesn't need to oversell it. Stream "Agatha and the Midnight Murders" (2020) online on iFILM.
