Ricki and the Flash

Ricki and the Flash (2015) is a music-driven drama with a comic streak you can watch online on iFILM. Meryl Streep plays Ricki, an aging rock guitarist who rings up groceries at a California supermarket by day and fronts her bar band, The Flash, at night.

Then her ex-husband Pete calls and asks her to come back: their grown daughter Julie is reeling from a brutal divorce and won't get out of bed. Ricki flies home and walks, for the first time in years, into the family she once left for the music. They greet her warily, because too much went unforgiven. Kevin Kline plays Pete, and Mamie Gummer, Streep's real-life daughter, plays Julie. Streep learned guitar and sings live, from Tom Petty to Lady Gaga.
