Synopsis

The Guns of Navarone (1961) is a war adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by J. Lee Thompson and led by Gregory Peck, David Niven and Anthony Quinn.

Autumn 1943, somewhere in the Aegean. Two huge German guns, dug into a cliff and aimed at the sea, have sealed the fate of 2,000 British soldiers stranded on a nearby island. Planes can't touch the battery; ships can't slip past it. So a handful of men are sent to blow it apart from the inside. Captain Mallory, a climber by trade, has to lead the saboteurs up a sheer rock face the Germans were sure no one could scale.

Adapted from Alistair MacLean's novel, the film took the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Its near three-hour run holds on a plain bet: a storm, a traitor among the team, and a clock running down to the German fleet's arrival. This is the blueprint half the men-on-a-mission movies still follow. Stream The Guns of Navarone (1961) online on iFILM.
