The Postman

The Postman (1997) is Kevin Costner's post-apocalyptic adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Costner both directed the film and took the lead role. The story drops us into 2013, when the former United States has fractured into scattered settlements.

A nuclear war has wiped out the old world, and the survivors live under the thumb of a self-styled warlord, General Bethlehem. A drifter wandering from town to town with a mule and scraps of Shakespeare stumbles onto a dead postman's uniform and a bag of letters. He starts delivering mail, claiming a restored government has sent him. The lie takes hold. People begin to believe in tomorrow again.

Adapted from David Brin's novel, the film runs nearly three hours. Alongside Costner you get Will Patton as the tyrant and Olivia Williams, with musician Tom Petty turning up in a small role. Stream The Postman (1997) online on iFILM.
