Synopsis

Lorenzo's Oil (1992) is a drama from director George Miller you can watch online on iFILM. It follows the real-life Odone family, whose five-year-old son is struck by adrenoleukodystrophy, a disorder that slowly destroys the nervous system.

Doctors offer no cure and little hope. Augusto and Michaela refuse to accept the verdict. With no medical training, they bury themselves in journals, push back against specialists, and set out to find a compound that might halt the damage. Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon play the parents pressed to their limit; Peter Ustinov is the wary researcher. Sarandon earned an Academy Award nomination for the part.

The man behind Mad Max here turns to one intimate story of sheer stubbornness. The oil the couple developed is real and still carries their son's name. It's a hard film, but not a hopeless one, about a single family rewriting the science. Stream Lorenzo's Oil (1992) online on iFILM.
